Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 15 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Bodega Bay in northern California, USA to southern Baja California, Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found among attached or drifting kelp (Macrocystis) (Ref. 126547), rarely in bays (Ref. 2850). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).
