Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Lampanyctinae
Max. size:  8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 400 - 1550 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Circumglobal between 43°N and 68°S in all oceans. South China Sea (Ref.74511).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 12-14
Biology:  High-oceanic and bathypelagic (Ref. 4066), mostly found below 675 m (Ref. 4479, 4775). Vertical migration not observed (Ref. 4479, 4775).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 11 July 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
