Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Lake Matano, south Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 5-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 11-12. Distinguished from all other congeners by its terminal mouth with milky-white thick lips which can be protruded. Additional characters useful in the identification include elongated head (35.3-39.1 %SL), elongated snout (11.1-13.0 %SL) and small interorbital width (7.0-8.7 %SL) (Ref. 86891).
Biology:  Occurs in rocky habitat in small groups consisting of two to three fish (Ref. 86891).
