Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 8.5 - 9; dH range: 10 - 15
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to Lake Tanganyika (Ref. 5704). In the Lukuga River (Lake Tanganyika outflow), known from the Kisimba-Kilia rapids (Ref. 93587).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Have been discovered over many types of rock substrates even in very muddy water. Omnivorous, feeds on microorganisms (Ref. 6770). Forms temporary pair bonds; the male defends the territory while the female takes care of her offspring (Ref. 7343).
