This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: length of snout (SLn) 6,7-10.0% head length (HL), mean 7.8 (vs mean 12.3% in T. trachinus; 12.1% in T. myops); body depth SLn 12.6-18.9%, mean 14.7% (vs. mean 21.2% in trachinus; 21.6% in myops); eye diameter SLn 31.6-51.7%, mean 40.1% (vs. 74.8% in trachinus; 79.1% in myops); interorbital width 4·0-6·7%, mean 5·6% HL (vs. mean 8·7% in trachinus; 8·9% in myops); anal-fin rays 14-16, mode 14 (vs. mode 16 in trachinus; 15 in myops); pectoral-fin rays 11-12, mode 11 (vs. mode 12 in the two species); lateral-line scales 56-59, mode 56 (vs. mode 57 in myops); further differs from trachinus and myops by deep mitochondrial distances (15.7-19.0 and 16.9-17.6%, respectively) (Ref. 110386). |
