Max. size:  9.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6 - 8; dH range: 5 - 19
Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. This is the smallest and most popular of the small gouramis which have been widely distributed outside its native range (Ref. 1739).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits slow moving streams, rivulets and lakes with plenty of vegetation (Ref. 41236). An air-breathing species (Ref. 118402). Aquarium keeping: minimum aquarium size 60 cm (Ref. 51539).
