Family:  Oxudercidae (Mudskippers), subfamily: Periophthalminae
Max. size:  4.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, amphidromous
Distribution:  Asia and Oceania: known only from the lower parts of the Fly, Ramu and Bintuni Rivers in New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 24-29; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 23-28. Distinguished by the following characteristics: total D2 elements 27-30; caudal fin length 21.4-27.9% SL; head length 22.0-25.7% SL (Ref. 5218).
Biology:  Inhabit mainly tidal mudflats adjacent to turbid, brackish rivers.
