Family:  Sciaenidae (Drums or croakers)
Max. size:  16 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, amphidromous
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: east coast of India, Bangladesh, Burma southward to about Singapore and Borneo around Brunei to Australia (Ref. 7050). Reported from Nepal (Ref. 9496).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 26-29; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 6-8
Biology:  Found in shallow coastal waters, estuaries and rivers (Ref. 9772).
