Family:  Loricariidae (Armored catfishes), subfamily: Loricariinae
Max. size:  16.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Central America: Atlantic and Pacific versant rivers.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rivers and creeks of moderate velocity between 20 and 160 m elevation, living fixed to branches or stones where they scrape off algae and its attached microbiota. Feeds mainly on detritus and some aquatic invertebrates (Ref. 36880).
