Can be diagnosed from its congeners in Balkan Peninsula by the following characters: not projecting upper lip; mouth terminal; head length 1.0-1.2 times body depth, 25-29% SL; eye diameter 20-26% HL; 41-44 + 2-3 scales on lateral line; dorsal fin with 8½ branched rays; anal fin usually with 8½ branched rays; distance between tips of first and last branched anal rays (with fin stretched out) about equal to or slightly greater than caudal peduncle depth; and distal margin of anal fin convex (Ref. 59043). |
Inhabits streams with flowing, clear water. Grows up to about 16 cm SL (Ref. 59043). |
