Biology:  A benthic species found offshore on mid-continental shelf. Reaches maturity at ca. 18 cm TL. Biology little known (Ref. 114953).

Country info:  Type locality, Gulf of Carpentaria, CSIRO H 3646-02 (holotype of Narcine ornata, 18.6 cm TL, adult male). Known from the continental shelf region of the Timor and Arafura Seas, off Western Australia and the Northern Territory, but mainly from the Gulf of Carpentaria, off Western Australia, Northern Territory and northwestern Queensland (Ref. 76955).
