Additional Characters Pear-shaped eggs are embedded in the epithelial tissue lining of the pouch wall, and the surrounding capillaries supply oxygen to the embryos (Ref. 30915). Eggs are small, numerous and carried on the undersurface of the male's tail, protected by a fold of skin on each side, their free borders are very close together or coalescing (Ref. 2930).
