पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण): 6; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण): 34-41; गुदा कांटा 1; ऐनल सौफट रेज़: 32 - 39; जानवरों की रीड़ का जोड़: 27. Eyes rudimentary but distinct, covered by skin. Mouth oblique. Several short barbels may be present on underside of chin. Pectoral -fin rays free and silk-like. Three anal fin pterygiophores preceding first haemal spine. Cycloid scales embedded on head and body. Caudal fin very long (Ref. 45323).

Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Occurs in coastal waters and estuaries (Ref. 4833).
