Differs from the other species of Telmatherina by the combination of the following characters: second dorsal fin and anal fin posteriorly rounded; anterior tip of premaxilla not projecting; palatine edentulous; snout width 0.88-1.05 times in its length; 14-17 predorsal scales; 33-34 scales in longitudinal row; 14-17 1/2 branched anal rays. The conspicuous color pattern of both blue and yellow morph males and their courting behavior make them identifiable at once in the field (Ref. 7305).
有別於 Telmatherina 的另一個種藉由下列特徵的組合: 第二背鰭鰭與臀鰭在後部地圓的; 前頜骨的前端不是突出; 上顎的無齒; 吻寬度 0.88-1.05 倍於體長; 14-17個前背的鱗片; 在縱向的列中 33-34個鱗片; 14-171/2個分枝的臀鰭鰭條。 藍色與黃色變種雄性的顯著彩色斑紋與他們的追求的行為在田野中使他們立刻可以確認的。 (參考文獻 7305)
