Comments: Type locality, Pparque Nacional Montanhas do Tumucumaque, Município Serra do Navio, rio Jari basin, rio Mapaoni, estado do Amapá, IEPA 2497 (holotype of Ammoglanis amapaensis, 1.52 cm SL). Collected from Estado do Amapa, in Rios Amapari, Araguari and Jari basins (Ref. 78711).

Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 5; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 4; Ryggkotor: 29 - 31. This species is distinguished by having a slender and long quadrate with greatest depth about 30% of the length of its main axis; compared to its congeners, it has a long nostril barbel, reaching the posterior margin of the eyes (vs. reaching anterior margin), no cranial fontanel (vs. present), anterior part of palatine with small ossification (vs. none) (Ref. 78711).
