Dorsal soft rays (total): 12; Anal soft rays: 10; Vertebrae: 35 - 36. Presence of eight to ten midlateral round dark blotches and 20-40 smaller ones forming one or two irregular series above and two or three irregular series below midlateral blotches; dental formula 3/4, sub-inferior to inferior mouth; 37 to 38 lateral line scales; 4/3-4 transversal series of scales; 12 circumpeduncular scale series; and head length 20.9-23.6, mean 22.3% SL (Ref. 80699).
Diagnosis: Dorsal fin ii, 10; Anal fin ii,8; Pectoral fin i,13, 14, 15 or 16; Pelvic fin i,8 (Ref. 80699).
Adults occur in clear water streams, near waterfalls or in a cofferdam just above a waterfall (Ref. 80699). Distinct pairs breed on densely grown weedy places (Ref. 205).
