Comments: Endemic pelagic zooplanktivore in Lake Kinneret which comprises the largest fish stock in the 70s (maximum of 1313 tons in 1979, see Ref. 11031). Ref. 11031 suggests an impending downward trend in stock size in the early 80s.

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Lives near the surface in large schools, with occasional forays to deeper waters (Ref. 11031). Spawns in November to March. Females attach eggs separately on rocks (Ref. 11030). Diet limited to zooplankton, essentially copepods and cladocerans.
