Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 0; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 12 - 18; Taggstrålar i analfenan: 0; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 16 - 27. Body depth increasing with size of fish, belly sharply keeled, with 9 to 12 + 6 to 9 scutes. Pre-maxillae long and toothed; second supra-maxilla as long as or longer than blade of maxilla. Pectoral axillary scale at least 1/3 length of fin. No grey or silvery stripe along flank (Ref. 188). Last 2 rays of anal fin not forming a separate finlet (Ref. 43281).
Occurs in tidal zone of large rivers. Feeds mainly on planktonic crustaceans. Reported as non-migratory, may move short distances from the main river channels during high water periods. Used to produce prahoc and tuk trey (Ref. 12693).
