Unusually large genital papilla; males with a long conical papilla, while females with a flat, leaf-shaped papilla with a small projection at the tip. A unique combination of the following characters: head width 11.6-15.4% SL, head depth 8.2-9.9% SL, pelvic fin length 7.5-9.6% SL, length of dorsal fin base 0.8-1.9% SL, depth of caudal peduncle 6.2-7.6% SL, and principal caudal fin rays 14-16 (Ref. 41525). Dark brown body; dorsal surface purple; stomach light gray; all fins are light gray (Ref. 40516). Eye circular (Ref. 43281).
Adults inhabit streams. They feed actively at night on small fish, crustaceans and insects.
