পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 0; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 60-74; পায়ূ কাঁটা 0; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 21 - 29. Dorsal fin 2.4-3.4x length of anal; dorsal origin well before pectorals; 10-15 scales on caudal peduncle; body height 4.1-6.1x SL; caudal peduncle 2.5-4.1x long than high.

Affinities: Mormyrus rume and Mormyrus subundulatus, Mormyrus tapirus with longer snout, longer anal fin and 10-15 scales on caudal peduncle.
