Dorsal soft rays (total): 5 - 6; Anal soft rays: 8 - 10; Vertebrae: 31 - 32. Distinguished from all its congeners by the following combination of characters: head length 22.0-28.6% SL; depth of caudal peduncle 8.8-10.7% SL; length of anal-fin base 15.2-19.1% SL; eye diameter 12-16% HL; length of nasal barbel 57-92% HL; 3-4 serrae on the posterior edge of the pectoral spine; and caudal fin emarginate (Ref. 30226).
