Comments: Found in the Chao Phraya and Mekong basins (Ref. 26336). Collected from the main river Mekong in Chiang Rai and Nong Khai Province (Ref. 37786); also from Moon river, Ubon Ratchathani and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya (Ref. 37773). Also Ref. 12041, 26580, 43281.

Usually found as scattered individuals in shallow and medium depths of large rivers. Feeds on zooplankton and insects of larger size than seen in other members of the genus. Used to make prahoc (Ref. 12693).
