Dorsal soft rays (total): 12; Anal soft rays: 8. A member of the group of species with complete or nearly complete lateral line, 8 1/2 branched dorsal rays, 9+8 branched caudal rays and no sexual dimorphism. Distinguished from all other Schistura species by the presence of a large free posterior chamber of gas bladder; 7-8 very regular bars, wider than interspaces; length of caudal peduncle 11.5-15.4% SL, 53-74% HL; ; depth of caudal peduncle 11.5-15.4% SL, 55-73% HL (Ref. 39226).
A 5.78 cm SL female had insect larvae in its stomach and unripe ovulae in its ovaries (Ref. 39226).
