Occurs in the Mekong basin (Ref. 43281). Found in the middle Xe Bangfai, and the middle Nam Theun (Ref. 27732, 2686), Pak Beng to the Mun-Chin River (Ref. 37772) and Ban Hang Khone, a village on an island in the middle of the mainstream Mekong River just below the Great Khone Waterfalls in Khong District, Champasak Province (Ref. 37767). Also collected from Tha Ngon, Tha Bo and Hatsalao in the Mekong basin (Ref. 4792). Found in paddies, swamps and canals at Vientiane, Savannakhet and Pakse (Ref. 4792). In Khammouan Province, movement into small streams is triggered by the first heavy rains at the end of the dry season (Ref. 37770). Spends the dry season living around rocks in the main river (Ref. 37770). Also Ref. 30857, 56905.
