Known from various lakes. Type locality: Lake Madüsee (now Lake Miedwie), Pommern. But now extinct in Lake Miedwie (Ref. 13696). Apparent abundance in Poland only reflects the massive stocking programs without which the populations with rapidly decline. In the Gulf of Bothnia alone, about 6 million juveniles were stocked annually in 1995-1998 to support commercial fisheries (Ref. 59043). Also Ref. 593.
