Known from the Black Sea, European Black Sea watersheds, Anatolian Black Sea watersheds and Gulf watersheds (Firat Nehri, Dicle Nehri) (Ref. 58342). Also Ref. 106151. Found in central coast of Black Sea (Sinop and Samsun vicinity) (Ref. 88083). Spawning areas of the species in Turkish rivers have been destroyed by pollution, illegal fishing , deforming river beds and construction of dams. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Central Fisheries station started to produce fingerlings (Ref. 57271). Threatened by commercial fishing, habitat loss, eutrophication/pollution, construction of weirs/dams in rivers, aquauculture or introduction, and water abstraction (Ref. 58342).
