Known from the upper Salt River and Little Colorado River systems (Colorado River drainage) in Arizona (Ref. 5723). Found only at the extreme headwaters of drainage system where highly variable conditions of flooding and drought, anchor ice and wildfire occur (Ref. 32713).

Status of threat: threatened; status same as 1989. Criteria: 1,3,4,5 (http://fisc.er.usgs.gov/afs/) (Ref. 81264).
