Recorded from Zhujiang River (=Pearl River) and the Red River basin in Yunnan, southeastern China (Ref. 43281). Found in Fu and West river at Wuchow. Few specimens obtained at Canton (=Guangzhou City) (Ref. 35840). Introduced from its native range to other regions in the country (intensive culture in ponds) (Ref. 55380). Also Ref. 26563.
