Known from the provinces of Guangxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Hunan and Shanxi and from Shanghai City (Ref. 33786). Has adversely affected Cyprinus pellegrini when it was introduced in Qilu Lake due to competition for food (Ref. 44142). A popular cultured fish, introduced from its native range to other regions in China and has been reported to cause serious disruption (Ref. 45864).
