Occurs in the basin of the Baltic Sea, in Lake Onega. Is also know to occur in Lake Teletskoe, the Amur and Sungari, in rivers running down the eastern slope of Sikhote Alin, the coasts of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Kamchatka Peninsula (Ref. 26334, 37812). Populations from the Kolyma drainage usually identified as Cottus poecilopus belong to a different species (Ref. 59043). EurRus
