Disease name: Gonocera Infestation Parasitic infestations (protozoa, worms, etc.)
Country: Bangladesh   Year: 1996
Locality: Dhaka
Diseases occurred in: eggs fry females in the wild
  larvae juveniles males  in culture
Prevalence:
Intensity:     Mortality:
Type of culture:     Water temp.:
Remarks: Infestation commonly occurs in the intestine. Besides 1996 (Khanum et al.), the infestation was also reported to have occurred in 1997 (Ahmed and Ezaz) with no specific locality cited. This parasite is a stomach parasite of marine fishes, so this report likely involves a misidentification of the parasite. Gibson (1976) considered Gonocera crassa a probable synonym of Gonocera phycidis Manter (1925) (Ref. 42533).
