Definition of Term

alimentary canal
(English) The passage through which food passes and is digested and absorbed; includes the oesophagus, stomach and intestine; the tube of nutritive function, which extends from mouth to anus, and includes pharynx, esophagus, and intestines. (See also: oesophagus, intestine, pharynx)
