Diagnosed from other species of Barbus and Luciobarbus in Balkan Peninsula by the possession of the following characters: 47-55 + 2-3 scales on lateral line; 10-12 scale rows between lateral line and dorsal fin origin; 7-9 scale rows between lateral line and pelvic fin origin; head, body and fins with numerous small black dots, larger and darker on back; last simple dorsal ray weak, not serrated posteriorly; simple pelvic ray about as long as second branched ray; and poster margin of dorsal straight to slightly concave (Ref. 59043). |
