Diagnosis: head length 4.9-5.2 times in SL; body height 6.3-9.3 times in SL; snout wide, flat and rounded, its length 2.4-2.9 times in HL; eye lateral, its diameter 5.9-8.1 times in HL, 1.7-2.7 times in interorbital distance, 2.1-3.3 times in snout length; dorsal fin origin 1.1-1.2 times further from snout than from caudal fin origin, its first rays slightly in front of pelvic fin origin; anal fin base 2.0-2.4 times further from pelvic fin origin than from caudal fin origin; pectoral fins short, with 17-18 soft rays, its length 4.8-5.3 times in SL; pelvic fins 6.6-7.5 times in SL, 1.3-1.5 times in HL; caudal peduncle depth 1.5-1.7 times in its length; 88-93 scales on lateral line (Ref. 89134).
Description: mouth inferior, transversal, with maxillaries forming small lateral pads and lips with cutting edge; lower lip absent, but cutting edge present on lower jaw; scales longitudinally striated; lateral line complete; caudal fin with 18-20 soft rays (Ref. 89134).
Coloration: yellowish, dorsal and lateral surfaces (except lower flanks and belly) entirely and finely mottled, more contrasted in males; mottling more or less confluent, more or less forming transversal bands on the back; 9-10 large, mediolateral spots, vague in females; fins not or slightly spotted; caudal fin with oblique bands on lobes (Ref. 89134). |
