Diagnosis

This species distinguished by the following characters: 24-25 (usually 24) segmented dorsal-fin rays; 12-13 (usually 13) segmented anal fin rays; 18-25 anterior lateral line scales; 16-20 (usually 20) circumpeduncular scales; relatively stout and pungent anal-fin spines, the second much stouter than the third; color in alcohol consisting of pale central spots on scales of flanks behind pectoral fin base and dark central spots on breast scales (Ref. 81967).

Description: Characterized by having predorsal scales of 18-25; depth of body from dorsal origin to pelvic origin 30.1-32.6 % of SL (Ref. 90102).
