This species is distinguished by the following characters: scaled predorsal midline; fifth pelvic-fin ray with one dichotomous branch point; pectoral-fin rays unbranched; bony interorbital 41% pupil width; more than a single posterodorsal row of cheek scales; papillae 6 in cheek row c. Colouration: caudal peduncle with a white saddle dorsally, head and body plain yellow overall when fresh except the white caudal spot; a fairly heavy concentration of melanophores on last one-fifth of

peduncle, but not enough to form a recognizable dark spot or blotch (Ref. 126105),
