Indo-West Pacific: northwestern Australia, the Arafura Sea (Ref. 9819) and Papua New Guinea. Known from the freshwater reaches of the Mekong estuary (Ref. 12693).

Occurs inshore over soft bottoms (Ref. 7300). Found along coastlines and in estuaries, including freshwater reaches. Not seen in markets (Ref. 12693).
