Dorsal soft rays (total): 7 - 8; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 6 - 7. Distinguished by the following characteristics: robust and with rounded head; cycloid scales on body, sometimes with few weakly ctenoid scales on caudal peduncle; body light greyish with scale margins outlined in dark grey to brown, forming reticulate pattern; dorsal and caudal fins finely barred; second dorsal rays I,7-8; anal rays I,6-7; pectoral rays 14-18; longitudinal scales 22-26; TRB 7-10; predorsal scales 8-14; anterior most scale sometimes enlarged (Ref. 84480).
Found in freshwater streams and rivers (Ref. 84480).
