Etymology: Hemidoras: Greek, hemis = the half + Greek, dora = skin (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: This binomial cannot be identified. It may be that morei was a mistake for moorei, as Steindachner named a characin Brycon moorei in 1878 (see above). However, who moorei represents is also unknown, so which spelling (if either) is the mistake? (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
