Dorsal soft rays (total): 54 - 57; Anal soft rays: 50 - 53; Vertebrae: 62 - 64. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: vertebrae 62-64; D 54-57; A 50-53; pectoral-fin rays 18-21; caudal fin rays 7 or 8; lower jaw included, mandibular tooth plates entirely within posterior margin of premaxillary tooth plates; teeth on both jaws simple, forming bands each with up to 6-10 teeth; chin pores paired, opening in a common pit; gill slit entirely above pectoral fin; proximal pectoral radials 3 or 4; pyloric caeca length ca. 30% HL; body semi-transparent to light blackish (Ref. 137613).
