Etymology: Clariallabes: Latin, clarias, -a, -um = shining + Greek, allabes, -etos = a fish of the Nile, a kind of lamprey (Ref. 45335).

Africa: Congo River basin, especially middle Congo River basin including Kasai drainage (Ref. 78218).

Max length : 15.8 cm TL male/unsexed; (Ref. 3820)
Occurs among leaf litter in shallow streams, as well as along the bank of watercourses. Stomach content analysis revealed a quantity of sand, decayed plant remains, crustaceans, insect larvae, and the remains of terrestrial insects (Ref. 78218).
