Amato (for his important contribution to the knowledge of the Rivulidae diversity of Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil in Rio Grande do Sul); his last name and from the Greek 'lebias' (meaning small fish, commonly used to compose generic names of cyprinodontiform fishes); wichi: Named for the Wichi indigenous people who inhabited in several settlements very close to the type locality (Ref. 128060).
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Ecology
Freshwater; benthopelagic. Tropical
South America: Argentina (Bermejo river drainage, Parana river basin)
