Dorsal spines (total): 9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 26-30; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 25 - 27. Body pale orange, with 2 oblique pale reddish bars. Lateral line difficult to count. Body depth 1-1.2 in SL, more than twice head length. Pectoral fins longer than pelvic fins; slightly shorter than head. Cheeks and operculum with distinct scales. Gill membranes free from isthmus; branchiostegal rays 6 (Ref. 5318).
