Diagnosis: Slit-eyed careproct with horizontal mouth and silvery coloration of belly and peritoneum; head and snout slanting along a straight line; mouth slit attains vertical of beginning of eye; no rostral fold; eye small 15-16% of head length (HL); gill opening 1.9 to twice as large as eye; opercular lobe small and triangular; posterior teeth larger than anterior, in rows; interorbital space not wide 44-45% HL; vent opens under anterior third of interorbital distance; greatest body depth 96-104% HL; rounded and flattened disc 21-24% HL (Ref. 41470).
