Short description Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 8; Vertebrae: 35 - 36. Diagnosis: Clypeobarbus matthesi is unique among congeners in pigmentation patterning on dorsal fin in which proximal third to half is smoky black and distal half is creamy white in preservation, red in life, and eye form oval vs. rounded in congeners (Ref. 114247). It differs from all except C. bellcrossi, C. congicus and C. breviclipeus in possessing large pore-bearing scales in midlateral series below dorsal fin vs. greatly enlarged, high and narrow, shield-like scales in C. pleuropholis, C. bomokandi, C. hypsolepis, C. schoutedeni and C. pseudognathodon; it is readily distinguished from C. bellcrossi in lacking a series of discrete pigment dots midlaterally along body, and from C. congicus and C. breviclipeus in lateral-line scale counts, 26-28 vs. 20-22 and 23-24 respectively (Ref. 114247).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5020   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01000 (0.00244 - 0.04107), b=3.04 (2.81 - 3.27), in cm total length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  2.9   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
