This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: D2 I,11; A I,13; pectoral rays 16-18; eye small, 1.4 mm in length (2:46 and 58 mm SL); D1 connected to base of D2; pelvic interspinal membrane is very reduced; fifth pelvic ray is subequal in length to fourth ray; upper edge of the dark body stripe well above midside of body (Ref. 87545).
Cryptic, benthic and found on sandy bottoms near rocks or corals (Ref. 92840).
