This species is distinct with the following characters: nasal barbels not reaching beyond the eye; outer row on first arch with 28 rakers (22 on the lower part of this arch); A + C = 170 rays; vertebrae 58; flattened snout and the head outline gradually raising from eyes to the occiput, without longitudinal light bands on the body (Ref. 83561).
Caught by shrimp trawl at depths up to 100 m over soft grounds (Ref. 83561).
