Etymology: Ratsirakia: Perhaps it is an extinct fish today; following "Aquatic Survival", vol 4, 3, september 95.
Eponymy: Didier Ignace Ratsiraka (1936–2021) was President of Madagascar (1975–1993 & 1997– 2002). Jean Legendre was a physician with the French Colonial Troops in Madagascar (1922– 1924). He observed this sleeper and provided ‘interesting details’ (translation) of its biology to the author. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
