Freshwater; benthopelagic. Tropical; 24°C - 28°C (Ref. 2059); 11°S - 19°S
Africa: Cuanza and Bengo basins in Angola (Ref. 11970), entire Congo River basin and Okavango, Zambezi, and Kafue systems (Ref. 52193). Present in Koki River, a Lake Tanganyika tributary (Ref. 36901). Also reported from the Gribingui, Lake Chad basin (Ref. 83569), but this needs confirmation.
