Espinas dorsales (total) : 11; Radios blandos dorsales (total) : 9; Espinas anales: 3; Radios blandos anales: 9. Males appear much larger and has large dorsal and anal fins that are bright red and spread during display. It has red ventral fins with extremely long filaments (Ref. 48636).
Body shape (shape guide): fusiform / normal.
Occurs over rubble or low patch reefs in areas of current. Occurs in small groups, each with a single male dominating (Ref. 48636). Feeds on zooplankton in the water column. Collected using rotenone.
